GARDNER, Mass. – Although expectations were high, so was the turnout for the 10th annual “May It Forward” gathering, a spring charity event for veterans hosted by the Bronco Owners NorthEast States (BONES) Facebook group. As with previous shows, this year’s two-day gathering started with a Friday cruise through north-central Massachusetts that included a casual photo-op stop for 45 Broncos and their owners. The convoy then continued along for about 40 miles of scenic New England back roads until they reached their destination, the Red Apple Farm in Phillipston, Massachusetts. There, participants were treated to great food, cold beverages, some music and an art show – along with Bronco-style comradery.

While this event is free for all attendees, donations are requested to raise funds for the Travis Mills Foundation. That organization puts together an annual retreat in Rome, Maine, for post-9/11 veterans who have been injured in active duty or as a result of their service to our nation. It provides an all-inclusive, all-expenses-paid, barrier-free experience where injured soldiers participate in workshops, adaptive sport and activities and group get-togethers to help them bond and heal with other veterans and their families.

Of course, the big draw for May It Forward is the show on Saturday, where some 100 Broncos were in attendance this year, representing 13 states. The Bronco family showed up early to help fill the multitude of goody bags as well as to label and sort the immense amount of raffle prizes that were on hand -- all donated by members and vendors. The generosity of these people and businesses near and far is key to the May It Forward event’s ongoing success. The morning flew by and soon lunch was served – and all of it donated by the cooking crew! Then it was time for our friend John, the on-site representative for the Foundation, to give a detailed presentation of the goings-on at the veterans’ retreat and the progress being made there. That seemed to kick people into full "Give Mode,” as the big raffle then started and some mighty happy people went home with some truly great prizes

Through the now 10 years of hosting this event, BONES has raised more than $100,000 for veterans through the Travis Mills Foundation (travismills.org). What started out a decade ago as just a spring weekend hanging out with Bronco buddies has come a long way, blowing away all expectations. That’s why May It Forward is a “go” for next year, scheduled for May 16-17, 2025, at the PACC social club on Kendall Pond Rd. West in Gardner, Massachusetts. Bronco owners are asked to put May It Forward on their 2025 calendars to not only have a great time with some amazing people, but also to do something good for those who have sacrificed for our country. Hope to see you all at the 11th annual May It Forward!
