FORD FAN SPOTLIGHT – We’ve enjoyed hearing from Mustang enthusiast Dave Olechovsky ever since crossing paths with him at cool events such as the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix and the annual Carlisle Ford Nationals. But when Dave sent us a note about how he was able to overcome the challenge of getting his granddaughter a very special Christmas gift, we just had to share it with you below in this week’s Ford Fan Spotlight:
“Hello, Ford Performance! Dave Olechovsky here. I hope you had a nice Christmas and a Happy New Year. I wanted to share this story with you:

Last Christmas I bought my granddaughter a white battery-powered Ford Mustang ride-on car. My plan was to get a white one and put some blue Shelby stripes on it so that that it would look like a miniature version of my own Shelby GT350. While I was shopping for the best deal, I had several choices including some used ones I found on FaceBook Marketplace. But I decided to buy her a new one and placed an order directly with the manufacturer.

Much to my surprise, the one I had wanted was on backorder. Now I had the problem with the gift not getting delivered before Christmas. I looked for this same car at other outlets, including used ones, but with no luck. I contacted the supplier and while there were no promises, they said they hoped to get some white ones shipped out before Christmas. Luckily, they did get my shipment out with days to spare prior to Christmas, which gave me enough time to build it, stripe it and have it ready for gift-giving on Christmas morning.

As you might expect , the new Mustang gift was a big hit, and even after a year one of her favorite things to do is to go outside with Pop and drive her Mustang! Looking forward to seeing you again at Carlisle this year.”

Here’s How YOU Can Get In The Spotlight: For more than 20 years now, one of the most popular features on FordPerformance.com and in our weekly Fast News e-newsletter continues to be "Ford Fan Spotlight," where readers can send in their own reasons why they're fans of Ford Motor Company and its vehicles. All you need to do to get you, your car or candidate considered is to send in a brief description (200-500 words or less) and a few photos (in .jpeg format, preferably around 1 mb in size) with the owner’s full name and hometown, please. Just tell us about the vehicle(s) and why you think Ford Performance should feature it (them) in the "Ford Fan Spotlight" for an upcoming installment of Fast News as well as for posting on FordPerformance.com. Then email it to:
