FORD FAN SPOTLIGHT – We met up with Drew and Robin Hayes at this year’s Ponies in The Smokies event after they told us the story behind their family owning not one but two rare “Warriors In Pink” package Mustangs. For those of you not familiar with these cars, back in May of 2007 Ford had announced a special run of 2008 Mustangs with a unique Warriors In Pink package in support of the Susan B. Komen Foundation for the Cure, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer. The ’08 Warriors In Pink package was available on only 2,500 V6 Premium Coupe and Convertible models in either Black, Brilliant Silver or Performance White and included everything that came in the Mustang Pony Package as well as pink rocker-panel striping, unique pink ribbon & pony fender badge, and pink stitching on its Charcoal leather seats, steering wheel and floor mats. In March of 2008 Ford followed that with the unveiling of the 2009 version of its Warriors in Pink Mustang at the New York Auto Show, this time with a limited run of just 1,000 cars in the same configurations while adding a distinct grille and pink over-body stripes. The cars have since gained a notable following and, with such low production numbers, are not often seen at shows. When Drew and Robin explained to us why both their daughter and their granddaughter drive a Warriors In Pink Mustang, we knew we just had to share it with you below in this installment of our Ford Fan Spotlight:

“Hi Ford Performance! It’s Drew and Robin Hayes of Hilliard, Ohio. Was great talking with you at Ponies In the Smokies. Here’s the story you asked us to tell you about our daughter and granddaughter each having a Warriors In Pink Mustang:

“In 2008, my daughter saw the Warriors In Pink Mustang featured on car on a show called ‘Army Wives.’ She decided then that she had to have one. We went to our local Ford dealer and through a search, they were able to locate one in northern Ohio, and had it transferred to their dealership in Columbus -- and we purchased it on the spot.

“Fast forward to December 2017, and we received the devastating news that our daughter was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Through a very hard fight she's now a survivor, and the car took on a whole new meaning. Now fast forward to March 2023 at Ponies in The Smokies. We were at the car show and happened to stumble upon a 2009 Warriors in Pink Mustang, a white coupe with the pink stripes – and it looked very similar to my daughter's car. A lovely young lady was the owner, and I just came out and asked her if she wanted to sell it.

“Her father and I talked about it for a while, and we agreed on a price and it ended up coming back to Ohio with us. My daughter and son-in-law and I split the cost of this ‘09 car and now my granddaughter has a Warriors In Pink Mustang just like her mom! She loves to drive it everywhere – and definitely has the coolest car at her high school!
“Thank you for your interest in our story!”
