Queensland Raceway, Queensland – A powerful posse of Ford Mustang racers dominated the action on a wicked weekend for the GT4 Australia series at Queensland Raceway.
With six Mustangs in the 28-car field, the scene was set for a feisty run by the Fords across the outright battle and the fight for first in three classes.
A storm-lashed Saturday stoush turned into a lottery as incidents took several of quickest Mustangs out of contention, but there was still good news for Marcus LaDelle and Jarrod Kyte as they finished third - once officials had sorted through the chaos of crashes, crunches and penalties.
Sunshine and a dry track worked much better on Sunday as George Miedecke and Rylan Grey dominated the second one-hour contest, coming home solidly in front despite a late Safety Car period as Dean Campbell and Cameron Crick took fourth outright and victory in the Silver-Am category.
Unfortunately, there was bad news for David Schramm’s Mustang on Saturday. While Ryan Hansford was battling for the outright lead he was tipped into a spin and collided heavily with a concrete wall on pit straight, luckily without injury.
Schramm was not deterred and is already working on a major front-end repair to have the car ready for its second GT4 start in Melbourne in July.
Despite the mixed results from the Queensland weekend, Andrew Miedecke said he is happy with the growing field of fast Fords.
“We now have the single biggest car count for GT4 racing anywhere in the world,” says Miedecke.
“The Mustang is a natural fit. Australians understand front-engined, rear-wheel drive cars, and love the V8 engine roar.
“They are turning to the Mustang because they are familiar with the Coyote V8, the Holinger gearbox and MoTec engine management. We also carry a full range of spares to the track, and we’ve got a spare body-shell coming in the next shipment of parts.”
“There are six Mustangs at Queensland Raceway this weekend, another two are in the country, and another is about a month way. it’s just about to be shipped from Multimatic in Canada.
The 2025 GT4 Australian Series continues at Sandown Raceway in Melbourne from July 25-27.

Driver Quotes
George Miedecke
“It was a tough start on Saturday but we bounced back and won on Sunday.
“We led from the get-go, with a bit of contact from behind at one stage, and then Rylan Grey stretched the gap.
“He was under the pressure at the end with a Safety Car re-start but did the job as usual.”
Jason Gomersall
“Things could have been a lot worse with diabolical conditions on Saturday.
“We started well on Sunday but got turned around pretty early and then battled back for a reasonable result.
“The car has been awesome so we’ll dust ourselves off and have another crack at Sandown.”
Dean Campbell
“Not too bad this weekend. We rolled the dice a few times on set-up and got caught out with the weather on Saturday.
“We started way back in Race 2 so very happy to finish fourth outright and first in class.”
Jarrod Keyte
“Saturday was good for us with third outright and second in class after a late call for wet tyres.
“We were solid on Sunday but got a drive-through penalty.
“We’re learning a lot and having good times. Now we have a couple of test days planned before heading to Sandown.”
Adam Wallis
“Neither Jack or myself had driven our Mustang in the wet so we were happy to survive on Saturday.
“Then Jack had a spin on Sunday, which was a bit of bad luck. We’ll just re-gather and hopefully the bad luck is behind us."
David Schramm
“We’ve had the highs and lows of motorsport in one day.
“The good news is Ryan Hansford is OK after the crash and the car is not as bad as we initially thought. We’ll definitely be back for Sandown.”
