FORD FAN SPOTLIGHT – The best part of the Ford Performance Club Connect program is being able to get out on the road and meet with Ford owners face-to-face at shows and events all over the country. Beyond the many Meet & Greets and guest-speaking appearances, we are always looking for fun, new ways to engage with Blue Oval fans and hear their ownership stories. To that end, we recently co-hosted a live recording session for the popular Mustang Owner’s Podcast (https://open.spotify.com/show/4JRQPvWnwU0TBqzYIyS8mT) at the Carlisle Ford Nationals, where we set up a microphone in the middle of a huge tent and staged a Town Hall-style “Ask Us Anything” episode. We were excited by the big turnout and eager participation from attendees – many of whom made the final cut before we posed the final version of that podcast on Spotify and YouTube. After the session we got to chat with some of the fans who filled the podcast tent, and one of them was Jerry Poston from Rhode Island. Jerry sent us a nice note below and was willing to share his Mustang story, which we want to share with you for this week’s installment of our Ford Fan Spotlight:
“Hello Ford Performance! My name is Jery Poston. I just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed attending the live Town Hall version of the Mustang Owner’s Podcast that was recorded during the Carlisle Ford Nationals. It was good to meet hosts John Clor and Mike Rey in person. I’ve been listening to the Mustang Owner’s Podcast since the late Steve Hall had launched it and it is good to see his legacy continue.
“I was able to come up and speak with John Clor very briefly after the podcast recording session and told him my first Mustang was a 1975 Mustang II (knowing he’s a big fan of second-generation Mustangs). I have owned several Mustangs over the years but currently have a 1966 Coupe in Ivy Green with an inline 6-cylinder, and a 2020 GT in Kona Blue with white stripes. My wife and I cruise in the ‘66 during the summer and it winters in our garage in Rhode Island. Those New England Mustangs take a beating so she’s earned her winter respite. People often ask why I don’t put a V8 in it, and I tell them if I want to go fast I have the 2020 GT with traction control, air bags, etc. I’m keeping the ’66 the way it is; it’s a very different driving experience!
“My Mustang fascination started with a ride in a 1965 Candy Apple Red Convertible when I was about 15 years old. It was restored by a family friend, and he swung by my house and asked me if I wanted to go for a ride to a local junkyard. Yes please! He took every advantage to downshift to turn heads on the 15-minute ride. I was hooked. It took quite a while to get my own classic Mustang, but it was worth the wait!
“Anyway, it was a pleasure to meet with John and Mike, and I’m sure they’ll keep up the good work they’re doing with the Mustang Owner’s Podcast!”
