SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - If you’re on the search for any Ford vehicle that has a VIN number that ends in 001, chances are you may have to register for a bidder’s pass at one of the many Barrett-Jackson auctions held across the United States each year. That’s because Ford, Barrett-Jackson and JDRF have all teamed up to help auction off the newest Ford models featuring the low-digit VIN to benefit JDRF.Mustang Dark Horse on stage for auction at Barrett-Jackson

This year, Ford Motor Company offered up the first production Mustang Dark Horse to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and the auction house in order help fund research for Type 1 diabetes (T1D). The Mustang Dark Horse came fully spec’d out with everything, including painted stripes. When it came time to cross the block, Ford’s General Manager of Enthusiast Vehicles, Matt Simpson, gave a short intro of the Dark Horse and Ford’s longtime involvement with JDRF. The bidding then opened and the bids quickly went all the way up to $300,000. Additional donations were given to the sale, which brought the total winning bid to $350,000. If you’ve ever attended a Barrett-Jackson event, then you likely know that Ford always assembles a big footprint that’s not to be missed. This year in Scottsdale, Ford brought out a fleet of Mustangs, Broncos and EV’s which all became hands-on experiences at the Ford display. Each morning, Mustang Brand Manager Joe Bellino would lead a deep-dive into the Mustang Dark Horse and answer any and all questions from the crowd. Across the large grounds of West World at Scottsdale, Ford also hosted hot laps in the Mustang Dark Horse with professional drivers from the Ford Performance Racing School. Mustang Brand Manager Joe Bellino Speaking about Dark Horse Mustang
