BIRMINGHAM, MI – There’s an old proverb that says the month of March “comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb.” Nobody hopes that’s true more than classic car owners and cruisers in the colder climate states, as most of them feel it’s been a long winter that needs to end soon so that we can finally take our cars out and enjoy them.
That’s certainly the case with enthusiasts in and around The Motor City, many of whom enjoy a weekly car ritual that takes place along Detroit’s famed Woodward Avenue. This comes in the form of a “Cars & Coffee” gathering that happens every Saturday morning at Pasteiner’s Auto Zone Hobbies on Woodward in Birmingham, Michigan. Steve Pasteiner Jr.’s storefront shop is chock full of car magazines, books, models and all sorts of auto memorabilia, and it often draws 100 muscle cars, hot rods, classics and exotics there from 8-10 a.m. on Saturday mornings in what is known simply as “Parking at Pasteiner’s.”
Ford Performance photojournalist correspondent Bill Cook lives in nearby Rochester, Michigan, and grew up in a Ford family with his Dad working at Ford Division Marketing and Sales. Throughout his own long Ford marketing career, Bill was well-known within the company as an active enthusiast and club member who could always be counted upon to show off photos of the many car shows and events that he attends regularly all across the Midwest. In retirement, it is no different. Bill sent us a photo gallery from one of the last Parking at Pasteiner’s events before the holidays to get us in the mood for what is waiting for cruisers come Spring. For a tase of what kind of Ford rides he saw there, check out his photos below:
