WOODHAVEN, Mich. – One reason why so many enthusiasts come to the Southeastern Michigan area the week before the annual Woodward Dream Cruise in Mid-August is because there’s always countless car shows, cruise-ins and automotive events leading up to the massive all-day Woodward cruise on that Saturday. Area communities, businesses, car clubs and even auto dealerships have gotten into the act, and one of our favorites has been a fun little show put on by Gorno Ford of Woodhaven, Michigan. This Downriver Detroit area Ford store has been hosting a pre-Woodward cruise-in on its dealership lot for a while now, open to all makes and models, and generally drawing a 40-50 car turnout. That’s until Mike Rey, the dealer’s Performance Specialist and New Car Sales lead, took over promoting the show.
Mike also happens to be the longtime president of one of the country’s largest and most active Mustang clubs, MOCSEM (Mustang Owners Club of SouthEastern Michigan), so he invites members of his club to attend – as well as members of his newly created “BOCSEM” Facebook group – or the Bronco Owners Club of SouthEastern Michigan. With so many Mustangs and Broncos coming, he also invited Ford Performance, so we arrived with our Club Connect Meet & Greet tent for a free Mustang poster giveaway. The result was a fun, filled-to-the max lot with some 100 cars in attendance – mostly Mustangs and Fords, despite a few Brand-X rides.
With top-40 tunes filling the breezy evening air, this group of car lovers -- from Mike Rey and MOCSEM members to every car owner who attended – enjoyed a classic, summer’s night cruise-in at the jam-packed Gorno Ford show. And speaking of Ford enthusiasts, young photojournalist Sean Devine and his fellow photographic phenom, Joe Deladvitch, drove in from Delaware for Woodward weekend and decided to attended the Gorno Ford show. They both agreed to share with you below some of what they captured on their cameras while at the dealership that night:
