PONTIAC, Mich. – Just off Woodward Avenue north of Detroit is a special automotive facility called the M1 Concourse. This sprawling complex located in Pontiac, Michigan, is a car-lover’s dream, with a 1.5-mile road-course track, a paved skid pad, a few hundred private-garage man caves and an events center. Nearly every month of the year, the crew at M1 opens the gates to the general public for a mega “Cars & Coffee” event. Cool car owners bring the vehicles, while local sponsors supply the coffee and donuts. You’ll need walking shoes if you plan to see all the vehicles that show up for these gatherings.
Early arriving attendees wind up parking up and down the skid pad, which can handle about 250 vehicles, as well as multiple vendors and any M1 concourse display vehicles. Once that fills up, they begin parking vehicles on either side of the track, which fills up quickly when the weather is pleasant. For the May 2022 M1 Cars & Coffee, the featured marques were Ford and Lincoln, so you can bet this date was on the radar of FoMoCo fans from across the region.
As you might expect, a slew of collectible Fords and Lincolns came out for the event – which featured everything from GT350’s and GT500’s, to Focus RS’s and even Ford GT’s. Of course, Ford retiree, super-enthusiast and longtime photojournalist Bill Cook was there with his Boss 302 (along with his son-in-law and his own Boss 302), and went off searching for all the fine Fords on display. As usual, Cook brought along his trusty camera and snapped these photos to share with you in our gallery below:FORD PERFORMANCE PHOTOS / COURTESY BILL COOK
