SEBRING, Fla. – FordPerformance.com readers who check out our “What’s Happening” section each week will recall that last month we sent out a heads-up about the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association’s Sebring SpeedTour events for February 18-21 at Florida’s Sebring International Raceway. In addition to SVRA events getting vintage racecars back on the track, they often include a car show and car corrals for clubs as part of their high-octane race weekend. While we’ll be bringing you a Quick Look at the 2021 SVRA Sebring car show in the coming weeks, we’ve got special coverage to share with you this week on the on-track activity there.
In our pre-event writeup, we mentioned a rumor that this year, Ford CEO Jim Farley might be on-track for the Vintage & Trans Am Auto Races that weekend – and it turns out the rumor was true! As is usually the case for events in The Sunshine State, Jeff Burgy, our Florida Ford super enthusiast and SAAC-MCR Club founder, was on-site with his camera to catch the action both at the show and on the track. He emailed us exclaiming, “Jim Farley finishes First in his T298 Lola and Second in his 289 Cobra!” and sent along his photos.
“It was a great weekend in Sebring, Florida, with Curt Vogt's Cobra Performance team of wrenchers and racers,” Burgy reported. “Ford CEO Jim Farley had a great weekend with Podium finishes in all four races that he ran. On Saturday, he placed Second in Class in his Lola No. 98, and Second in Class in his Cobra No. 96. On Sunday, he placed First in Class with the Lola and 4th overall, and he finished Second in Class in his Cobra.” Check out Burgy’s track photos below from the weekend, and stay tuned for more Sebring event coverage coming soon:
