ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The “Quick Look” section on FordPerformance.com has been the place for enthusiasts to get an insider’s glimpse at the wide variety of Ford car shows and Ford car places all over the country. But we’re shifting gears a bit now to give you a “quick look” at what some of our Ford clubs are doing while their events are on hold due to the global pandemic.
While COVID-19 has forced most clubs to cancel their car shows and events so far this year, many have since tried to convert their normal weekly activities into virtual Mustang experiences. Our friends Mitch and Karen Mitchell of the Show-Me Mustang Club (SMMC) out of St. Louis report that they have been practicing “Mustang Social Distancing” on their club’s Facebook page with a Virtual Mustang Alley, Virtual Mustang Dioramas and even a Virtual Scavenger Hunt. “We welcome ideas and hope our SMMC Facebook page offers some fun,” Karen said.
Now, with the ability to get out and drive their Mustangs without actually gathering to show them off, the Show-Me Mustang Club is hosting a “1st Annual (hopefully the last) Corona Virus Driveway Car Show” on its Facebook page. They sent out a club logo to each participant with these instructions:
- Print this sign
- Park your Mustang in your driveway
- Grab your lawn chair an& snap a photo of your setup (Mustang, chair, etc. - displays encouraged) with you in photo and holding the sign
- Post picture in comments section on club Facebook page
The club invited all Mustang owners to join the fun. Check out the Show Me Mustang Club Facebook Page to see the results. (The club is also celebrating Grads, and asked that if any seniors had pictures (past or present) taken with a Mustang, to share the picture in the comments section.)
From all of us here at Ford Performance, we say hats off to SMMC for keeping the Mustang spirit alive during these difficult times!
