CLEVELAND, Ohio – Mustang isn’t the only iconic Ford Motor Company brand that enjoys a big enthusiast following – as owners of the Ford Thunderbird can attest. With dozens of events scheduled each year thanks to two major Thunderbird clubs and their affiliated chapters, it’s easy to find great T-Bird shows all across the country for fans to attend.
Ford Performance had covered the big Vintage Thunderbird Club International (VTCI) meet in New Jersey during the 2019 show season, so we felt it was only fair that we also attended the annual International Thunderbird Club (ITC) convention held in Cleveland last summer. And we’re glad we did.
Not only did Ford Performance set up its well-traveled Meet & Greet tent on the show field in the back lot of the host hotel, but we also served up a Thunderbird history presentation during the evening ITC banquet, delivered by Ford Performance Communications Manager John Clor. Blessed with good weather on a warm August weekend and plenty of great cars to see during the show, Clor said that although he didn’t have any free Thunderbird posters to hand out to attendees, they did seem to enjoy the Ford GT posters that he gave away. He snuck away from tent duty for a bit to check out some of the cars on display and take a few photos. Thank goodness that T-Bird superfan and SAAC-MCR club founder Jeff Burgy was also at the show with his camera, because there were far too many great Thunderbirds to see. We’ve combined some of our favorites from both correspondents into one show gallery for you to enjoy below:
