READY FOR INSPECTION New Ford 5.0L V8 Coyote Power Module Ensures CARB Compliance

Ford 5.0L V8 Engine with Transmission Attached

DEARBORN, Mich. - There are now 17 states in the US that comply with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) emissions standards, which can make dropping modern crate engine packages into vehicles 25 years or older in these states an even more complicated endeavor.

Why?  Because Smog Check inspections of all vehicles are required in CARB-compliant states, and if a crate engine package isn’t installed (and calibrated) correctly, it won’t meet the emissions requirements.  CARB-compliant states (in addition to California) include New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Washington, Oregon, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Colorado, Minnesota, Nevada, Virginia, and New Mexico.

However, for car enthusiasts residing in those states (and all others), there’s a clean answer to the challenge – the new Ford 5.0L V8 Coyote power module.

Listed in the Ford Performance catalog under part number M-9000-M50AE, the latest 5.0L V8 Coyote power module was designed to make it easy to drop this modern, Gen 3 powertrain combination into any pre-1996 vehicle that originally came equipped with emissions equipment. It’s rated to produce 460 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque and comes paired with Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission.

In this package, the Coyote V8 offers up a compression ratio of 12.0:1, and comes with an aluminum block, a Boss alternator kit, the starter and starter index plate, a unique PCM calibration, 87mm throttle body, a cold-air intake, and the ProCal 4 tool for module configuration.

The transmission includes a flex plate, torque convertor, the factory GT 10R80 shifter, U-joint companion flange, and transmission cooler and lines, along with additional goodies such as two catalytic converters, and O2 sensors, plus installation hardware.

The power module runs on pump gas and is designed to offer true plug-and-play installation in a wide variety of vehicles, including those requiring a CARB-compliant solution that’s sure to pass every smog inspection required -- be it in California, Maine, or anywhere in between.
