BRAKING WITH HERITAGE: PERFORMANCE BRAKES AND PONY CARS HAVE GROWN TOGETHER

DEARBORN - Be it decades ago or today, performance brakes and pony cars go hand-in-hoof (so-to-speak), and performance derivatives of the iconic Ford Mustang serve as a great example.

Those who owned an SVT Mustang Cobra around the turn of the century (or perhaps, currently own one?) know that Cobra was considered the top-of-the-line Mustang of the time. It also featured the best-braking components for its time, utilizing 13-inch Brembo vented discs matched with twin piston calipers for the front, and 11.85-inch vented discs and single-piston calipers in the rear.

Fast forward to the sixth-generation Mustang – enthusiasts now have the opportunity to upfit their current model EcoBoost® or GT Mustang with the Mustang Bullitt™ Brake Kit from Ford Performance Parts (M-2300-BUL). This big brake kit features Gloss Red, Brembo-branded calipers that grab attention and help the driver stop on a dime (if need be) or dive deeper (and more confidently) into sweeps and corners.

The brake kit’s front 6-piston Brembo calipers are designed to provide ultimate performance, with immediate braking feedback and consistent feel on the track or the street. The front 15-inch rotors stay cool thanks to directional vanes that draw air through the rotor for better cooling. Thirteen-inch rear rotors are pinched by single piston sliding rear calipers (also Gloss Red).

The Bullitt™ Brake kit is only one of several options Ford Performance offers for Mustang owners looking to improve their faithful steed’s braking performance. Other examples include the 2015-2020 Mustang Performance GT350R Brake Kit (M-2300-Y) and 2015-2020 Mustang Performance Pack 6-Piston Front Brake Kit (M-2300-V).

In addition, Ford Performance has many brake upgrade kits for 2014 and earlier Mustangs . . . including an upgrade kit for that early 2000’s SVT Cobra!

The 2003-2004 SVT Mustang Cobra carried the most performancecapable brakes of its day. Today, Mustang GT owners can up-fit their stopping power to the track-tested/validated original equipment applied on the modern-day Mustang Bullitt.

The Mustang Bullitt™ Brake Kit consists of original equipment applied on 2018-2019 Mustang Bullitt. The kit carries front calipers and rotors; rear calipers and rotors; front and rear brake pads; brake hoses; splash shields; and all needed hardware.

Bigger Brakes? Consider bigger wheels. Ford Performance Parts’ HP Performance Pack wheels (M-1007K-DC19MB) are borne from 2018 Mustang Performance Pack Level 2 vehicles and clears 6-piston brakes.
