DEARBORN - Any do-it-yourself, gear-headed car enthusiast understands the days of “bolt-on” horsepower have come and (are nearly) gone – at least, contemporarily speaking.

Today, performance-oriented engine calibrations (“flashed” into the vehicle via a laptop and/or calibration delivery tool) are enablers to increased horsepower, torque, shift qualities ,and miles of smiles.

Ford Performance has a long history of offering performance engine calibrations, which are developed by Ford Performance calibration engineers during countless hours of dyno testing and real time ‘seat-of-the-pants’ dynamic evaluation. The resulting calibrations deliver improved power, drive-ability, pass Ford’s stringent durability tests, and are available for U.S. and Canadian vehicles.

Ford Performance Parts offers calibrations for 2018-2020 Mustang GT (M-9603-M8B) and 2018-2020 Mustang EcoBoost® (M-9603-M4C) models. Both feature improved power throughout the RPM range and noticeably livelier throttle response.

The 5.0L Mustang GT calibration package includes a larger 87-mm throttle body (vs. 80-mm stock); the required throttle body adaptor; a Ford Performance cold-air intake; and the Pro Cal 4 calibration delivery system. It is available for manual or automatic equipped Mustang GTs. 

The Mustang GT calibration for 2018-2020 5.0L V8-equipped Mustangs from Ford Performance Parts delivers +19-hpat 6,500 rpm and +42 lb.-ft. of torque at4,500 rpm. The 2018-2020 Mustang EcoBoost® Performance Calibration from Ford Performance Parts delivers a +35-hp peak gain at 2,900 rpm and +76lb.-ft. torque peak gain 2,600 rpm.

The calibration package includes a calibration interface and high-flow performance air filter Laptop PC not included Ford Performance Part’s new Pro Cal 4 Calibration Delivery Tool is designed and executed by Ford calibration engineers. The Pro Cal 4 not only delivers the performance calibration, it also stores the stock file, allows real-time monitoring of engine parameters, reads and clears DTCs, real-time data logging, and can configure tire size changes within certain parameters.
