DEARBORN - Ford Performance has a long history of offering performance engine calibrations. These calibrations offer an enhanced driving experience. They are developed by Ford Performance calibration engineers during countless hours of dyno testing and real time ‘seat-of-the-pants’ drive-ability evaluation. The resulting calibrations offer improved power, drive-ability, and pass Ford Performance’s stringent durability tests. Performance calibrations are available for U.S. and Canadian vehicles. Premium fuel is required.

What is new in the Ford Performance calibration catalog?
Ford Performance is pleased to announce 2 new calibrations. The 2019-2020 Ranger Eco Boost calibration M-9603-REB and the 2018-2020 Mustang GT calibration M-9603-M8B.

A performance engine calibration for the Ranger? What are the high-lights?
The Ford Performance calibration for the 2.3L Eco Boost in the Ranger adds torque and horsepower through out the RPM range. It also improves the throttle response offering better drive-ability. There is a 45 HP gain at 4,500 RPM. There is a 60 lb/ft of torque gain at 2,500 RPM. There is also an optimized shift schedule for the 10-speed automatic transmission. Drivers will feel crisper, more precise shifts.

How is the M-9603-REB Ranger calibration installed in the vehicle?
The Ranger calibration and new Mustang M-9603-M8B calibration are delivered with the new Ford Performance Pro Cal 4 tool. When you order the Ranger calibration, you will receive the Pro Cal 4 tool, a voucher to register and a performance air filter. You download the Pro Cal 4 software to your computer and connect the tool with the provided USB cable. The Pro Cal 4 tool will automatically update. The Pro Cal 4 tool then connects to the OBD 2 port located under the driver’s side dash.

Why a new Pro Cal tool?
The engineers wanted to upgrade the capabilities of the Pro Cal tool. The Pro Cal 4 not only delivers the performance calibration, it also stores the stock file, allows real-time monitoring of engine parameters, reads and clears DTCs, real-time data logging, and can configure tire size changes within certain parameters. It features a high-resolution touch screen and intuitive graphical interface. The tool has a rubberized protective case and even comes with a suction cup to mount to the corner of your windshield. It was really the next step in Ford Performance Pro Cal evolution.

What about the new Mustang GT calibration?
The M-9603-M8B Mustang GT calibration for 2018-2020 5.0L equipped Mustangs is a blast to drive. Like other Ford Performance calibrations it features improved power throughout the RPM range. The throttle really comes alive. This package was modeled after our very successful M8A Power Pack 2 for 2015-2017 Mustang GTs. It features a larger 87mm throttle body (vs. 80mm stock), the required throttle body adaptor, a Ford Performance cold air intake, and the Pro Cal 4 tool. It is available for manual or automatic equipped Mustang GTs.

What are the power gains for the Mustang GT calibration kit?
There is a 42 lb/ft. torque gain at 2,000 RPM. 19 HP gain at 6,500 RPM. 18 lb/ft. torque gain at 4,500 RPM.

Are these calibrations legal in California?
Yes, Ford Performance spends great deal of time, energy, and resources to certify our performance calibrations for emissions for all 50 states – California included. Ford Performance tests and certifies our calibrations meet the proper C.A.R.B. standards.

Do the Ford Performance calibrations have a C.A.R.B. Executive Order (EO) number?
The M-9603-REB Ranger calibration EO number is D-752-12. The M-9603-M8B Mustang GT calibration EO number is D-752-9. The kits come with their C.A.R.B. EO number printed on labels for owners to apply to pass inspection.

Do Ford Performance calibrations have a warranty?
Ford Performance calibrations are unique because they come with their own Ford warranty. If the Ford Performance calibration causes an issue to your car within 3 years or 36,000 miles from new vehicle in-service, Ford pays to fix your car. If the performance calibration did not cause the issue, your base Ford warranty still applies. The kits need to be installed by an A.S.E. certified shop or Ford dealer. In Canada, Red Seal certified technicians also can install Ford Performance calibrations to maintain warranty eligibility.

What about competitors’ calibrations?
Ford does not and cannot warranty non-Ford calibrations. Ford does not develop or test them and therefore will not cover any affected parts damaged by a non-Ford calibration. They do not test and develop to Ford’s durability standards.

Where can Ford Performance calibrations be purchased?
Ford Performance calibrations M-9603-REB and M-9603-M8B can be purchased along with the full-line of Ford Performance Parts at any Ford Performance Parts authorized distributor or through any Ford dealer.
