SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. – Travel about two hours west of The Motor City and you’ll find yourself of the western coast of Michigan – but this time not at the beach, but rather at Gingerman Raceway, host of the Mohawk Track Experience and other cool motoring events such as Gridlife Midwest. Started four years back by event organizer and mega Ford enthusiast Paul Rocha, the Mohawk Track Experience is a great way to gain real road-racing experience for any level of driver. The “Mohawk” event, so-named because of Rocha’s own high-performance hairstyle, took place the week of the Woodward Dream Cruise, making it a perfect day trip for those cruise visitors looking to put their Mustangs through their paces before the big day.
For owners seeking to learn how to improve their high-performance driving skills, the Mohawk Track Experience incorporates input from professional drivers and car builders so that participants can learn directly from the professionals. Pro driver Anthony Magagnoli from Drive Faster Now, plus those from Gateway Classic Mustang and 5.2 Motorsports were all available for 1-on-1 coaching, tech tips and more. When chatting with Rocha at the track, he explained that his favorite part of this annual event is seeing people having safe and legal fun with their vehicles. And that it’s all done in a low-pressure, friendly environment.
Ford Performance made the trip out to Gingerman for the day to capture some of the track action going down in South Haven. Check out our photo coverage here:
