CARLISLE, Pa. – The Carlisle Ford Nationals is certainly among the top shows in the world for all things Ford. With just about every model ever offered by Ford Motor Company present, this annual Blue Oval extravaganza always delivers something special for FoMoCo fans of all stripes. While it’s hard to choose favorites each time the Carlisle Events team plans a reunion or an anniversary-year gathering for Ford owners and clubs, there were a couple we just had to visit this time around. We simply couldn’t miss the Maverick-Comet Club International tent at this year’s Ford Nats, especially since 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the Maverick to the marketplace.
Sitting at the top of the hill (literally) on the Carlisle Fairgrounds, we found a dozen or so 1970 to 1977 Ford Mavericks on display. We even spotted several “Grabber” Package cars, which were fan favorites from the early to mid-1970’s that included a spoiler, special trim, and a graphics package (and quite often were ordered with an optional F-code 302 underhood). The club proudly hung a “Carlisle Events Official Recognized Club” Banner alongside its tent as well as a “50-years of Maverick” banner.
The Ford Performance team enjoyed our time checking out the gathering of Mavericks and Mercury Comet sister cars from across the country. So we decided we’d help show off some of these snazzy Seventies compacts seen at the anniversary by sharing with you some of the photos taken from the show field in a special gallery we’ve put together for you below:
