WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – When the Mustang Club of North Central Pennsylvania decided it wanted to celebrate three decades of serving its local Mustang-owing membership, it came up with three different ways to mark the occasion. First, hosting a special dinner with a guest speaker from Ford; second, setting up a Cruise-In and a tour of the Auto Restoration Program at the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport, Pennsylvania; and third, sponsoring a Mustang Corral at Williamsport’s big, annual Autumn Fest & Car Show.
To the club’s credit, they scored big on all three, making their 30th anniversary last fall one quite worthy of recognition. To kick things off on the right foot, the anniversary started with a mini Cruise-In at Penn-Tech and a guided tour of the school’s impressive automotive restoration classes facility. It was followed by a Saturday night sit-down dinner also held on the Penn Tech campus and catered by the school’s talented Culinary Arts students. The evening presentation by guest speaker John Clor, Ford Performance Enthusiast Communications Manager, was deemed the perfect way to cap an informative day and an incredible evening meal.
On Sunday, MC of NC PA members saddled-up their Mustangs and drove to the Divine Providence Hospital Grounds in Williamsport to set up a “Mustang Corral” at the annual Autumn Fest & Car Show, sponsored by the UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center) Susquehanna City Hospitals Auxiliary. This massive car show featured all makes and models from miles around, but the Mustang and Ford footprint pushed the show field to the limits. Ford Performance came along to set up its Meet & Greet display tent to talk Fords and to give out free Mustang posters to all. The Corral, which the club had arranged to also celebrate “55 Years of America’s Favorite” Pony Car,” was so full of great cars that Clor had to see them all for himself. With camera in hand he walked the show field to snap photos of his favorite Fords on display. He shares some of his favorites in the gallery below.
And oh, as if all that weren’t enough to cover the Saturday-Sunday, September 28-29, 2019 weekend festivities, the club invited Clor back the following Monday morning to speak to some 275 students and faculty of all of Penn-Tech’s automotive and collision repair/restoration classes on campus. They, too, all received free Mustang posters -- with the hope that someday, some of those students will help organize North Central’s 40th anniversary club celebration a decade from now!
