When we receive a Ford Fan Spotlight submission in our ClubHub@Ford.com email inbox with the words “2nd Generation Ford Guys” in the subject line, you can bet we’re going to read it all the way through. And when that same email sent to use by Jack Boesch of Humphrey, Nebraska, included photos that featured a spectacular 1969 Mustang Mach 1 restomodded by Jack’s cousin Dale, an award-winning car builder, we knew you’d want to see it, too. Check out their story below:
“Hello, Ford Performance! This is the story of two cousins . . . whose dads started an auto body shop in the 1940s, and who share a passion for cool cars. Jack and Dale Boesch are related by blood but are friends by choice. Jack had a dream of owning a kick-ass Mustang, and Dale had the vision and skills to deliver.
“Both grew up around cars. In the early 1960’s their dads joined two other brothers in purchasing the local Ford dealership in Humphrey, Nebraska. They merged in their body shop to make their car business complete, forming Boesch Motor Company. ‘Our dads and uncles all had sons, so we cousins wrenched and detailed our own cars in the shop on Saturday afternoons,’ explained Jack. ‘We had some of the nicest rides in the school parking lot!’
“In 2008, when Jack’s vintage ’69 Mustang Mach 1 collided with a deer, he took it to his cousin, Dale, who was recently named the 2018 National Hot Rod Association Elite Builder of the Year. Dale and his talented crew cut, welded, massaged and painted the dream and vision of the Boesch cousins.
“Dale’s team combined to turn this pony car into an award-winning muscle car. There are countless modifications done on this Mach 1 to perfect the fit and finish of all body panels. The Moss Green Pearl color is a custom mix designed by Dale, and the Smoke Silver and Bright Orange stripes make it truly ‘A Horse of a Different Color.’
“At the heart of this horse, new life was breathed into a 351 Cleveland that came from a ’70’s Roush NASCAR racer. The Jack Roush high-rise intake and racing heads help this V-8 boast 425 horsepower that makes the car yearn to run on the track. There’s plenty of powder-coated and painted one-off parts to dress up the old-school engine. Behind the motor, a Bowler Performance Automatic Overdrive transmission delivers the torque to a narrowed 9-inch Ford rear end assembly with 3.91 gears and Traction Lock.
“And oh, in one of the photos you’ll see this 1969 Mustang Mach 1 owner Jack Boesch posing with granddaughter, Kate Boesch, at a local car show. Hope you enjoy.”
How YOU can Get In The Spotlight: For the past decade, one of the most popular features on FordPerformance.com and in our weekly Fast News e-newsletter continues to be "Ford Fan Spotlight," where readers can send in their own reasons why they're fans of Ford Motor Company and its vehicles.
