If you had read our recent Fan Spotlight about the Mustang life of NASCAR’s Matt DiBenedetto, you may recall Matt mentioning his go-fast Mustang friend, Anthony Ballard. Ballard not only owns a shop that specializes in Coyote-powered Mustangs, but he’s also popular on Mustang Facebook pages and has a coupe of very special Mustangs of his own. So when Anthony sent us the note below and some great photos, we simply had to feature him in this week’s spotlight:
"Hey guys! I was reading your recent Ford Fan Spotlight on NASCAR racer Matt DiBenedetto. I was talking to him and he mentioned to me that he had mentioned me (Anthony Ballard) in that article. After seeing that, I figured it was worth a shot to see if you would feature my Mustang(s) as well.
“My first car was a 1979 Mustang Indy Pace Car. My second car was a 1990 Mustang GT. My third car (and one that I still currently own) is a 2014 Mustang GT. My fourth car is a 2018 Mustang GT.
My 2014 Mustang GT makes 1,550 whp with an On3 turbo setup. It’s Been 5.11 seconds at 145 mph in the 1/8th-mile, and 7.8 seconds at 175 mph in the ¼-mile. That car still has the factory 6-speed 6r80 transmission and is a true street car.
“My 2018 Mustang GT is a Supercharged Coyote making 1,040 whp with the 10-speed transmission. It’s seen 8.9 seconds at 157mh in the ¼-mile. I own a shop called Signature Speed which is a Mustang performance shop. That’s all we work on – the 2011+ Mustangs. Ford’s Coyote engine platform is an amazing setup, which is why I’m a 100-percent True Ford guy. Hope you enjoy the photos.”
How YOU can Get In The Spotlight: For the past decade, one of the most popular features on FordPerformance.com and in our weekly Fast News e-newsletter continues to be "Ford Fan Spotlight," where readers can send in their own reasons why they're fans of Ford Motor Company and its vehicles. You know who they are: Ford "superfans;" grassroots Ford racers; unique Ford vehicle owners; loyal Ford enthusiasts; notable Ford club people; special Ford families; and/or any avid supporter of Ford, Ford vehicles, Ford motorsports or Ford Performance who deserves a little bit of special recognition.
All you need to do to get you, your car or candidate considered is to send in a brief description (200-500 words or less) and a few photos (in .jpeg format, preferably around 1 mb in size) with the owner’s full name and hometown, please. Just tell us about the vehicle(s) and why you think Ford Performance should feature it (them) in the "Ford Fan Spotlight" for an upcoming installment of Fast News as well as for posting on FordPerformance.com. Then email it to: ClubHub@Ford.com with your contact info. Should you wish to send a video, you simply need to post it on www.YouTube.com (preferably 1-2 minutes long) and send in the link, along with a brief description, to that same ClubHub@Ford.com email address. We'll choose one submission each week. We hope to see YOU and your Ford in our Spotlight soon!
