More often than not, Ford owners and their particular car or cars are the stars of our weekly Ford Fan Spotlight. But sometimes a Ford fan who wants to highlight the cars (or trucks, or SUV’s) of some of his closest friends deserves our recognition. And that’s exactly the case with Randy Wickman of Rindge, New Hampshire. Randy’s club, Bronco Owners North East States (or “BONES”) has an annual charity shoe for veterans each spring dubbed “May It Forward.” Check out his note to us below to see how these Bronco folks give back to their community.
“Hello Ford Performance, my name is Randy ‘Tasker’ Wickman of Rindge, New Hampshire. I read your ‘Fan Spotlight’ selection every week, and thought maybe I should send this along: Our Bronco club hosts an annual get-together called ‘May It Forward.’ (Last year we were actually featured in both Bronco Driver magazine as well as on a local cable TV show called ‘Cruisin New England.’ It is a two-day event held in -- get ready for this -- central Massachusetts!
“The club, known as BONES (Bronco Owners North East States) has held this charity event in central Massachusetts for the last five years -- with 100% of our proceeds benefitting the Travis Mills Foundation. The day features everything Ford Bronco, 1966-96, with 'Maying It Forward’ being the underlying mission of the event showing our appreciation for the proud men and women of our armed services who have served our country so valiantly for our freedom.
“We have had more than 10 states represented in years past, and this show has steadily grown since its inception. The fun begins of a Friday night, usually with the arrival of attendees who gather to go on a very scenic street cruise, ending with a bite to eat. Saturday’s show opens at 9 a.m. and is capped by a free lunch and an impressive prize raffle. We are all Bronco fans, so if you would consider us for your Ford Fan Spotlight, it would be greatly appreciated!
“Thanks for your work in the hobby, keep up with all the cool stuff you do, and rock on!”
How YOU can Get In The Spotlight: For the past decade, one of the most popular features on FordPerformance.com and in our weekly Fast News e-newsletter continues to be "Ford Fan Spotlight," where readers can send in their own reasons why they're fans of Ford Motor Company and its vehicles. You know who they are: Ford "superfans;" grassroots Ford racers; unique Ford vehicle owners; loyal Ford enthusiasts; notable Ford club people; special Ford families; and/or any avid supporter of Ford, Ford vehicles, Ford motorsports or Ford Performance who deserves a little bit of special recognition.
All you need to do to get you, your car or candidate considered is to send in a brief description (200-500 words or less) and a few photos (in .jpeg format, preferably around 1 mb in size) with the owner’s full name and hometown, please. Just tell us about the vehicle(s) and why you think Ford Performance should feature it (them) in the "Ford Fan Spotlight" for an upcoming installment of Fast News as well as for posting on FordPerformance.com. Then email it to: ClubHub@Ford.com with your contact info. Should you wish to send a video, you simply need to post it on www.YouTube.com (preferably 1-2 minutes long) and send in the link, along with a brief description, to that same ClubHub@Ford.com email address. We'll choose one submission each week. We hope to see YOU and your Ford in our Spotlight soon!
