DETROIT, Mich. – Access to a preview of new production vehicles as well as the engineers and corporate executives who made them happen at an international auto show is something that is reserved only for credentialed media or automotive celebrities and influencers. That’s why when Ford invited Mustang club members from across southeastern Michigan to attend the Mustang “Bred To Race” gathering during Media and Technology Days at the North American International auto Show in Detroit last month, it was a night to remember for all. The complete 2024 “road-to-race” Mustang lineup was displayed and presented for attendees, and the Detroit reveal of the Mustang GTD supercar was certainly the highlight of the night.
Among those on hand for the can’t-miss look at the new high-performance Mustang racing lineup and the presentations for each were: Jim Farley, Ford President & CEO; Mark Rushbrook, Global Director of Ford Performance Motorsports; Jim Owens, Mustang and Shelby Consumer Marketing Manager; Laurie Transou, Mustang Chief Program Engineer; and Larry Holt, Multimatic Chief Technology Officer. The drivers on hand for the event hosted in the Grand Riverview Ballroom at downtown Detroit’s Huntington Place Convention Center included Chris Buescher, Bob Tasca III, Joey Hand and Harry Tincknell.
As we expected, our own Ford Marketing retiree-turned-roving car-show photographer, Bill Cook, attended along with members and principals of the Mustang Owners Club of SouthEastern Michigan, the Mustang Club of Mid-Michigan and the West Michigan Mustang Club, just to name a few. We asked Bill to capture some of the media and club member mingling going on at the event, as well as the cars that headlined the “Bred to Race” reveals. We’ve selected some of our favorites of Bill’s shots, as well as some from our Ford Social team’s Marcus Cervantes, to share with you in the gallery below.
