MILAN, Mich. – One of the biggest fan favorites at the Milan Dragway in southeastern Michigan each year is the Nostalgia Drags – where drag racing aficionados get to re-live the glory days of the muscle car era. And that includes our roving car-show photographer, Ford retiree Bill Cook.
“This event is fun for those who remember back when you could actually recognize the cars at the dragstrip,” Bill told us. “It’s always a good time. The owners love talking about the cars, the history and how much fun they’ve had seeing these cars again.”
Milan (Michigan) Dragway’s 2018 edition of the Nostalgia Drags and Funny Car Shakedown took place over the September 21-22-23 weekend of 2018, kicking off with Nostalgia Testing and a gamblers Race on Friday. Saturday and Sunday action included Nitro Funny Cars, Alcohol Funny Cars and Great Lakes Gassers, as well as multiple racing classes, a car show and a swap meet. All cars have to be 1990 or older to run in this event.
Bill attended on Saturday and, as he does at most events, he took more than a hundred photos. He wanted us to share some of the Fords he found there with you in the gallery below:
