BULLITTHEADS ADD TO MUSTANG LORE WITH ‘HOONDOG LEGEND LIVES ROUTE 66 TOUR’

CHINO HILLS, Calif. – Ford Motor Company, Team Mustang, Ford Performance and the HoonDog Performance Group (HPG) invited any willing Mustang enthusiasts and Bullitt fanatics to join in on the “2018 HoonDog Legend Lives Route 66 Tour” along Historic Route 66, and the drive west turned out to be the experience of a lifetime. Ford and HPG teamed up for this event in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Mustang Bullitt. The Bullittheads figured, “What better way to celebrate this legendary Mustang than by joining a Bullitt stampede? And why bit have all other Mustangs and collectible Fords join in while driving the entire length of Route 66 from Chicago to LA?

In addition to the more than 60 HoonDog participants who signed-up to take on this cross-country drive, Ford supplied two brand-new 2019 Mustang Bullitt prototypes to be included in the road tour. These 2019 Bullitt pre-production units were on display at all of the tour’s stops for attendees to check out, among all the other Blue Oval rides who tagged along.

The HoonDog Legend Lives Route 66 Tour took place between May 25th and June 3rd 2018. The tour featured interesting stops on old Route 66 as well as a whole host of historic landmarks along the way. HPG hosted multiple car Show ‘n’ Shines during their Meet-&-Greet cookouts in Yukon, OK, and Tucumcari, NM, as well as mini car shows at Ford Dealers in St. Robert, MO, Winslow, AZ, and Laughlin, NV.

The event started in Chicago, and ended at the Santa Monica Pier in California. The tour event concluded in Chino Hills, CA, at “The Friends of Steve McQueen” Reception Dinner on Friday, June 1st and the Car Show on June 2nd at Boys Republic, Steve McQueen’s childhood boarding school.
