MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – For many owners and fans of the Ford Mustang, attending a local cruise-in, annual car show or a mega-event like Mustang Week is common practice several times over during the show season. It’s events like these that make Ford’s iconic pony car so special and help support the amazing family-like community that comes with being a Mustang enthusiast.
This year, Mustang Week marked the 60th anniversary of the Ford Mustang with an all-out celebration incorporated into its annual week-long event held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Ford, as one of the presenting sponsors, set up a large display with the new 60th Anniversary Edition Mustang, a California Special, and the new Matte Wrap Option displayed on a Vapor Blue Dark Horse.
Events at Mustang Week continue to evolve each year as the show organizers try to have something for everyone. The week kicked off with a party at “The Hangout” for those arriving in town early. Tuesday and Wednesday also hosted pre-planned cruise-ins at some Myrtle Beach staples, with these venues hosting events that offered a non-standard car show environment.
For the first time this year, a karting day was arranged so that attendees could compete against professional drivers such as Vaughn Gittin Jr, Jack Roush Jr, Ben Hobson, and Chad Finchum. Winners of the competition were given awards and prizes donated by sponsors.
The main events happened Friday and Saturday with a car show and cruise-in at Myrtle Beach Mall. We heard that the 500-car show sold out within just a few days of registration opening online months before, and this door-to-door show proved to be even bigger than that. While the show lot was full, you could wander to the adjacent parking lots for an informal cruise-in to see hundreds more Mustangs.
If you’re not within driving distance of Myrtle Beach, we have some great news for you. Next year, Mustang Week will be going on the road in April of 2025 to bring Mustang Week to Galveston, Texas. Not only do organizers plan to bring all the Mustang Week excitement to the great state of Texas, but we’ve also heard rumblings of more Mustang Week events that could pop up around the country in the future. No matter where the Mustang Week experience happens to be next season, we hope to see you there!
