CONCORD, N.C. – When the month of October rolls around, people start thinking about setting up Halloween decorations and taking a road trip to a cider mill or for a fall color tour. But for Mustang fans, it’s all about planning a getaway weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina, for Foxtoberfest, a show consisting entirely of cars that ride on the 1978-93 Ford Fox-Body platform. This October marked the show’s 11th year, and organizers put together the biggest and best yet, appealing not only to a large portion of the Fox-Body owner base, but to all Mustang and Ford fans as well.
Spanning four days, Foxtoberfest allowed Fox fans to enjoy a large variety of activities, such as an open house at Fox Mustang Restoration and Prestige Motorsports, a cruise, a poker run, a Fox-Body YouTuber meet & greet, a Mustang Owners Museum Meet, a hotel kick-off party, and of course the main event – a gathering of some 800 Fox Bodies on display at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. This show is unique not only because of the niche that it serves, but also because every Fox Body Ford is welcome, regardless of condition. We saw everything from low-mileage originals to multi-colored projects. There were the typical trophies for class winners but the show also awarded Fox restoration supplies to those deemed most in need.
Our own Ford Special Vehicle Registry team was set up at this year’s Foxtoberfest to help explain to show attendees the benefits of adding their Mustang to the official Ford Registry (– and it’s all for free: See https://SpecialVehicleRegistry.com for details.) Team member Eric Pasteiner got the chance to walk the show with his camera and take some pictures of some of his favorite Fox Body Fords he found there. Take a look at his selections below, and then plan on attending Foxtoberfest yourself next October. Just follow the event website for full information. There’s no trick to it – and there’s sure to be plenty of treats
