BIRMINGHAM, U.K. -  Carlin’s F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost title challenge has gathered further momentum with the addition of karting star Zane Maloney.

The 15-year old joins the triple Champions off the back of a successful final season in karting, with the Barbados-based racer finishing fourth in last season’s CIK-FIA European Karting Championship.

He also claimed third in the WSK Champions Cup, second overall in the SKUSA SuperNationals XXII – X30 Senior Class and third in the German Karting Championship.

With that experience – and the benefit of two prior years in karting – Maloney now switches to the Ford EcoBoost-powered British F4 category – widely regarded as the most competitive of it’s kind worldwide – to make the next steps up the FIA motorsport ladder.

“I’m happy to start my single seater career with Carlin who have a track record of being successful in all formula racing that they participate in,” commented Maloney.

“Pre-season testing has gone well and I am looking forward to the challenge ahead of me. Thanks to my sponsors Bushy Park Barbados, SOL, Rock Hard Cement and Alpinestars for their continued support”.

Team Principal Trevor Carlin echoed Maloney’s delight and looks forward with optimism to following his progress in 2019.

“We are thrilled that Zane will be joining our British F4 team for this upcoming season as he begins his single seater career,” added Carlin.

“Zane has already been working well with the team and made himself an strong member of the F4 programme – we really look forward to seeing what he can achieve over the course of the upcoming season.”

Also of interest on Carlin’s return is the British outfit’s quest to reach a century of podiums, with 36 race wins and 98 visits to the rostrum currently on the board.

Once again in 2019, British F4 enjoys a unique position as the sole single-seater support category on the UK’s premier motorsport package – the British Touring Car Championship.

That factor alone ensures capacity crowds and millions more viewers through ITV4’s live, free-to-air television coverage, offering drivers an unparalled marketing platform on which to boost their profiles and forge their careers.

Another ten-event, thirty-race campaign gets underway at Brands Hatch on 6th-7th April.
