MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA – The Shell V-Power Racing Team has pulled the covers off its 2019 Ford Mustang GT Supercar today, which it hopes will help to defend their Supercars Championship title.

Introduced after a 12-month joint development program between the Shell V-Power Racing Team, Ford Performance and Ford’s Asia-Pacific design studio, the Mustang is Ford’s latest in an historic line of Australian Touring Car entries.

The Shell V-Power Racing Team entries will continue to carry the instantly recognisable red, white and yellow of major partner Shell V-Power and will be driven by defending champion Scott McLaughlin and Fabian Coulthard across the 2019 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.

Shell V-Power is joined in their support of the team by Repco, Pirtek, PPG, DXC Technology, Three Threes, Sharp, Rheem, WM Waste, Wurth, Beaurepaires and Coles Express for the 2019 season.

Viva Energy CEO, Scott Wyatt, said that the relationship with the team had never been stronger or more integrated.

“The relationship with Dick Johnson is now entering its 52nd year, with the Shell V-Power naming rights support coming into a third season,” said Wyatt.

“In that time we have shared incredible success with the team, including the 2017 Teams’ title and the 2018 Drivers’ Championship won by Scott McLaughlin. We couldn’t be more excited to see Shell V-Power colours and branding on the brand-new Mustang, and look forward to sharing plenty of success into the future.”

Shell V-Power Racing Team Managing Director Ryan Story said that the introduction of the Mustang, and continued support from Viva Energy and Shell V-Power, provides an incredible platform for the team’s title defense.

“We have worked tirelessly on the Mustang program over the last 12 months, and to get to this point, where we are revealing it in Shell V-Power colours is massively satisfying, and really get the blood pumping for the year ahead,” said Story.

“We’re ecstatic with how the car has come together, and how it looks in our 2019 warpaint. We’ve brought on some fantastic new partners and are hopeful of continuing the success we’ve enjoyed in recent years.”

2018 Virgin Australia Supercars Champion McLaughlin said he can’t wait to hit the track in his brand-new Mustang.

“We’ve spent a lot of time developing this new car, and to now see it in Shell V-Power colours is awesome,” Said McLaughlin.

“It looks fast standing still, so I can’t wait to see how it performs on the streets of Adelaide in a couple of weeks.”

Coulthard, driver of the No.12 Shell V-Power Ford Mustang, said that the 2019 season is shaping as one of the most anticipated in recent memory.

“I’ve been around the sport for a long time now, and I can’t remember a build-up to a season as big as this,” said Coulthard. “We’ve got a fantastic new car, and I can’t wait to get behind the wheel.”

The Shell V-Power Racing Team Ford Mustangs will hit the track for the first time at Phillip Island in testing on Thursday February 14, before the Superloop Adelaide 500 begins on February 28.
