DEARBORN, Mich. - If you've never attended the Woodward Dream Cruise in suburban Detroit, then you're missing the biggest one-day automotive event on the planet. And with Ford’s announcement that it will again be the primary sponsor for the annual cruise this year, you can bet it’s going to be better than ever!
For 2018 Ford is celebrating 20 Years of hosting Mustang Alley at the cruise with special cars, displays and attractions. Up along Woodward on cruise day you’ll also find driving demonstrations at the Ford Fund’s “Driving Skills For Life” display at Westborn Market; a full Ford Performance vehicle display at Dugan’s – including the spectacular 2018 Ford GT; a “Family Fun Zone” at Poplar Park; and even a “Ford Motor Meadow Meetup” sponsored by Ford Performance at Pleasant Ridge Park where free parking and picnic areas will be available for club members and owners of collectible & vintage Ford, Mercury and Lincoln vehicles. The action starts at 5 p.m. on Friday at East 9 Mile and Woodward with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, followed by a “Police and First Responder Vehicle Parade.” Then early Saturday, the big cruise – with some 1 million people and nearly 40,000 collectible cars -- is ON! The Woodward Dream Cruise is truly a Bucket List event that you simply must experience to appreciate.
For Ford fans, the best way to experience Woodward is to take a stroll in “Mustang Alley” where several hundred Stangs of every vintage dominate the Ford display along 9 Mile Road at Woodward every summer. This year, Ford’s Mustang Alley during the big cruise is set for Saturday, August 18 – but to reserve a parking spot in Mustang Alley, YOU NEED TO REGISTER YOUR MUSTANG. Parking is limited, and spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so DON’T DELAY! For full information and registration, go to: http://www.mustangalleyon9.com/.
If you've been waiting for that one, extra-special enthusiast event to attend this summer, this is it: Register NOW for one of the biggest Mustang & Ford shows (up to 800+ vehicles) in the country, hosted by MOCSEM, one of the biggest Mustang clubs in the USA – all in Ford's own backyard. It’s the annual "Mustang Memories All-Ford Show & Swap" held on Sunday, August 19th at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan, the day after Ford Motor Company dominates Detroit’s annual Woodward Dream Cruise.
The big Sunday show this year features the “Team Shelby Dearborn Invasion,” where Shelby fans and owners have a variety of events planned in the week leading up to the big Mustang Memories show. A visit to “Memories” includes goody bags for pre-registered cars, judging, trophies, a huge vendor midway, a swap meet and car corral, a variety of food trucks, 50/50 drawings, and many feature vehicles and celebrity guests. This year there’s a “50 Year Celebration of the Mustang Bullitt” (that includes both a 2019 Bullitt and the original 1968 Bullitt movie car on display!), an SVT 25th Anniversary gathering (where you can meet former Ford SVT engineers), plus 50 Years of the California Special as well as 60 Years of the Edsel. We hope you stick around the day after the Dream Cruise to make Mustang Memories!
Not going to be in the Motor City the weekend of August 18? Fear not, there are several other big Mustang and Ford shows across the country. From Friday, August 17, to Monday, August 20, you can join in on the “18th Annual Intermountain Mustang and All Ford Stampede (IMAFS)” at Homestead Resort in Midway, Utah, hosted by the Northern Utah Mustang Owners Association. On Saturday the 18th, you’ll find the “Classic Ford Show and Mustang Round Up” at Showare Center in Kent, Washington, put on by our friends in the Pacific Cascade Mustang Club, plus the “11th Annual Pony Run Car show” at Four Seasons Ford in Hendersonville, North Carolina, thanks to the efforts of the Blue Ridge Mustang Club of Asheville. If Sunday, August 19th is your only getaway day for a car show, then check out the “40th Annual Mustang and All Ford Show” at Landmark Ford in Springfield, Illinois, hosted by the Central Illinois Mustangers or the “GVMA's 35th Annual Mustang and Ford Roundup Show” at the George Preston Recreation Centre up in Langley, British Columbia, Canada, presented by the Greater Vancouver Mustang Association. The club websites have all the details.
Mustangs aren’t the only Ford vehicles that owners and fans celebrate with events – nearly every Ford has a club, and most all clubs host some kind of major event each year. Take the Ford Focus, for example. Since 2008, an event known as FocusFest has been the Ford Focus gathering that unites Focus enthusiasts from around the world into a single setting. FocusFest includes a day of fun auto racing events where club members and attendees compete for the fastest track time, plus a car show for registrants to show off their modified Focus. This year, FocusFest 2018 will return to Cordova International Raceway in Cordova, Illinois, on August 10th-12th, with the host hotel in nearby Davenport, Iowa. FocusFest also offers many more attractions such as an audio competition, a meet & greet party, Focus swap meet, dinner caravan, awards ceremony and cool prize raffles. Ford Performance has been a proud participant at this show in past years, and hopes to see you at FocusFest18!
Another great Ford with a phenomenal following is the Thunderbirds, whose clubs hold a myriad of events across the country. This year, the International Thunderbird Club is hosting its Silver Anniversary Convention in Buffalo, NY, August 7-12. There’s so much going on at this event that you should click the club link to get all the info! If ALL Fords somehow seem to float your boat, then how about a trip to Hermann, Missouri, August 9-11 to attend the Ford Blur Oval Rally. There, Ford enthusiasts rally in downtown Hermann to show off their Blue Oval rides, from Model As to Mustangs. Highlights include movie nights Thursday and Friday at the Showboat, a cruise to Pinkney Bend and an all-day car show Saturday on Fourth Street. The show is sponsored by Hermann Ford and our friends in the Midwest Blue Oval Ford Club, so check the club site for details.
Prefer a more traditional Mustang club show that weekend? Then try the “4th Annual American Muscle Show,” on August 11 at Prior Lake High School in Savage, Minnesota, hosted by the good people of the Southwest Metro Mustang Club That Sunday, on August 12, the Pierce County Mustang Club is presenting its “26th Annual Mustang and All Ford Roundup” at Griot's Garage in Tacoma, Washington. Another that day is the “42nd Annual Collectors Car Show and Flea Market” at Macungie Memorial Park in Macungie, Pennsylvania, thanks to the efforts of the First Pennsylvania Mustang Club.
Don’t want to wait that long for a weekend car-show getaway? There’s cool stuff to see this weekend on Aug 4-5 as well. Lots of Mustang owners and club members talk about getting young people involved in our hobby, but if you’d like to get involved with people who are actually doing something about it, you owe it to yourself to attend the “Show-Me Stampede All Ford Rally” at Pundmann Ford in St. Charles, MO, just outside of St. Louis on August 4. There you’ll find the Show Me Mustang Club host a special ‘Mini Meet’ for Bradley Belcher and his Millennial Mustang Registry, thanks to the efforts of Show-Me’s Karen and Mitch Mitchell.
So who is Bradley Belcher? He’s the founder of the Millennial Mustang Registry, an online group “for Millennials (born between the mid-1980's and the early 2000's) who have a love for Mustangs.” According to Belcher, “The car show scene is mostly dominated by older generations, and because of this, people think we Millennials don't love our Mustangs. The purpose of this club is to show how much we Millennials truly do love our Mustangs as well as try and get more people involved in the car world. If you have a Mustang that you love, please JOIN US today!”
For more on Bradley Belcher, check out his story HERE. Then sign up on the MMR website, check it out on Facebook, or send an email to email@example.com. Better still, come meet up with Bradley and the MMR for some special surprises at the Show-Me Stampede on August 4th. We hope to meet YOU and all your young, Mustang-loving friends in St. Louie!
Another show in the Midwest on August 4th is the “35th Annual Mustang and Ford Show” at Das Dutchman Essenhaus in Middlebury, Indiana, hosted by the Michiana Mustangs. And on the next day, Sunday, August 5, you’ll find the “28th Annual Mustang and Ford Car Show” at Perry Farm Park in Bourbonnais, Illinois, thanks to the efforts of our friends in the Northern Mustang Corral. Just click on the club site links to get more info.
Speaking of Mustang clubs, we’ve got big news! Ford Performance has just launched an exciting new program called “Club Connect” that will help all Ford and Mustang enthusiasts get connected – and we’re giving away a 2019 Ford Mustang EcoBoost to help get you involved and excited too! You owe it to your Mustang or Ford vehicle club, online forum or Facebook Group to register and appear on our Ford enthusiasts map – it’s simple and it’s FREE! Just go to www.FordPerformanceClubConnect.com and click on “Register Your Club” to get on the Ford Performance Club Connect map. It takes only a few seconds. While you’re there, enter to win a brand-new 2019 Mustang EcoBoost Coupe of your choosing, delivered to the dealer of your choice! No raffle tickets to buy, lottery numbers to pick, no cost to enter, no need to be present to win – you don’t have to register a club or even be a member of an enthusiast group yourself to submit an entry.
The primary goal of our Ford Performance Club Connect program is to get everyone to register their club – for free – and get themselves on our Ford enthusiast group map so that we can all connect with each other. Once there, you’ll be able to see all of the other clubs and groups who have registered – not just Mustang clubs, but ALL Ford vehicle organizations and Facebook Groups who you may never have known about. The value in that is that whenever you plan a group activity, you can see what other clubs and groups in your area you may wish to contact for joining you at a show or event, giving you a direct link to all interested parties. And the next part of our program can be even more valuable for your club.
For those of you who have been struggling with your club websites or have given up entirely with a move to Facebook, Ford Performance Club Connect offers a club website template and hosting service that puts all the elements of club communications together on your site that we maintain for you. It’s set up so that you use your own club logo, photos, event calendar and club news space, and the template ties it to your club’s Facebook feed, and Ford’s own news feed – all appearing on the same home page at once! For a reasonable monthly fee that you can bill to a credit card or pay in advance, we host, support and update you club’s site and home page with Ford news – and you just add what club stuff you need and like when you want to. That way your members get your club news, your club’s own Facebook feed plus direct news, happenings and product info directly from Ford all in one place -- on YOUR club’s website. It makes your site a one-stop shop. All of your members and site visitors can access your club footprint, even from their phone, and get all the info they need to participate in your club life.
It takes only a few seconds to register your club, and just a click or two to have us contact you with your info about our Ford Performance Club Connect website template and hosting service. If you want to go the extra mile by hosting past newsletters or event photo galleries on your site as well, our support team can customize our template to expand its capability for a slight upcharge. No webmasters needed. And it’s all backed and supported by a real enthusiast staff managed by Ford Performance. No more club website hassles or headaches, no more FOMO on the club’s Facebook page, and more being left out of the loop with Ford and Mustang news and info. It’s kind of like your site being a living 24-7-365 club newsletter, powered by Ford!
And oh – while you’re checking out www.FordPerformanceClubConnect.com to register your club, connect with us, or just find a club or event, don’t forget to submit your entry for that 2019 Ford Mustang EcoBoost we’re giving away. (Don’t think you can win? That’s what last year’s winner said.) So what are you waiting for? Go online to www.FordPerformanceClubConnect.com right now. If you prefer to email us about it, send a note to ClubHub@Ford.com, or you could simply call our Ford Performance Info Center, toll-free during regular business hours, at 1-800-FORD-788 (800-367-3788) and ask for information about the new Ford Performance Club Connect program.
Unfortunately, we only the last half of the year to get everyone to check out our Club Connect program and enter to win our 2019 Mustang, as the contest ends on December 1, 2018. That’s where YOU come in. We not only need your help by registering your club and entering the Club Connect sweeps yourself right away, but also by telling every Ford friend you know to go and do the same. We need EVERYBODY to register and connect. Will you please help?
In the meantime, make sure you get out there and enjoy your performance Ford this summer. Find and attend a club meeting, a car show, cruise, or any driving or racing event. Join a Ford club or enthusiast group and discover the fun and all the friendly people involved in the world of Ford Performance. We’re sure that being connected with each other and with Ford will make “Driving Ford Passion” even more enjoyable!
No matter what you decide you’d like to do with your free time, the great thing about owning a performance Ford is that – unlike with buying one of those “appliances” from the other automakers – when you buy a Ford, you buy into an entire enthusiast world! That’s because Ford cars and trucks have the kind of personality and style that forges a personal connection with their owners, who in turn celebrate ownership each year at hundreds of enthusiast events all over the country.
Our Ford Performance Info Center has been hard at work expanding its "Certificate of Authenticity" program yet again to now include the 2015 and 2016 Shelby GT350 Mustang as well as the Shelby GT350R for those years.
