PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Like most long-established Mustang clubs in major metropolitan areas across the United States, the Greater Pittsburgh Mustang Club (GPMC) has hosted an annual car show for its members for years now, and participates in a wide range of other automobile events in the region. Established in 1986, the GPMC is dedicated to providing knowledge, encouragement and support to those who choose to own, preserve and enjoy Mustangs of any vintage. It has over 150 current memberships residing in Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, and West Virginia, and who range in age from the 20s through the 80s while owning more than 200 Mustangs as well as antique and special-interest Fords.Red Foxbody Mustang

Every June or July the club participates in a weekend-long rally with other Mustang clubs in the area that is called the Can-Am. Four clubs from Ohio, Pennsylvania and Ontario, Canada, take turns hosting the event on a rotating basis. The event was hosted by the GPMC in Pittsburgh in 2013, the year in which the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix (PVGP) honored the Ford Mustang as its Marque of the Year in recognition of the Mustang’s 50th anniversary. The GPMC coordinated that year’s Can-Am rally to take place over the PVGP race weekend, and were proud to have one of the largest-ever turnouts for a Marque car at the PVGP, all while helping to raise a record amount of money for charity. (Over the past two decades, the GPMC has raised and donated over $24,000 to many local and national charities through club fundraising events.)White and black S197 Mustang

As a Regional Club of the Mustang Club of America (MCA), the GPMC also participates in regional and national MCA-sponsored events (The GPMC has won an MCA President’s Award in each of the past nine years – a very noteworthy accomplishment!) But one of the most popular GPMC events has been its own yearly all-Ford car show, which allows everyone in the greater Pittsburgh area to share in the enjoyment of the automotive hobby. On a sunny Sunday last September 19th at Richard Bazzy’s Shults Ford, the Greater Pittsburgh Mustang Club hosted its 37th Annual All Ford-Powered Show, which drew more than 100 cars. “We didn’t have quite as many vehicles attending as we have in previous years,” admitted the club’s MCA Director, Mark Bedel, “but it was a resounding success by all counts. Food and drink were served up by ‘Hot Dawgs,’ and merchandise sales were brisk. Our DJ, Tom Butler, spun the tunes from quite a few decades, and had something to please just about every ear. Plus the weather couldn't have been any nicer. Our host, Ben, and hostess, Claire, of Shults Ford Harmarville were graciously (and exceedingly) helpful, as usual.”Red Newedge Mustang
Rather than offering us the usual shots of some of the cars in the show field parked side-by-side on the dealership’s lot, Mark decided to give us a look at some of the attending cars “parade style” as they pulled in for the show. (One of his favorites was a Taurus Wagon – with a transplanted SHO V-6 underhood!) Our thanks to Mark and the Greater Pittsburgh Mustang Club for sharing one of their favorite Mustang events with us in this “Quick Look” and via the photo gallery below:Ford Taurus SHO
