DETROIT, Mich. -- For the past two years in a row, the Ford Mustang has held the title of the world's best-selling sports car -- and there is a good reason why . . . YOU! The Mustang enthusiast is what keeps this iconic Ford model going strong, year after year since 1964. As a small part of the Global Mustang Day celebrations that took place this year on April 17, the Mustang Club of SouthEastern Michigan (MOCSEM) hosted an 80-plus mile road rally that spanned several Detroit-area automotive-focused venues and some of the best winding backroads in the region.S197 Mustangs in car show in front of train station

Starting at Ford’s recently acquired Michigan Central Station located in the Corktown district of Detroit, a hundred or so Mustangs gathered under the shadow of the mighty and famed train depot that dates back to 1913. A nearby restaurant, Cork and Gabel, opened its parking lot as well to serve as a staging area for the start of the day’s drive. Several TV news channels covered Detroit’s own Global Mustang Day event, as well as interviewed key Ford employees on hand, such as Jim Owens, Emma Berg, Jiyan Cadiz, and even Ford CEO Jim Farley. Shortly after a kickoff speech from Owens, the rally set off to Ann Arbor, Michigan, where drivers briefly stopped at a satellite office for Hagerty Insurance, one of the sponsors of the MOCSEM Rally. From there the 75 or so vehicles that made the trip took off back to Dearborn to the celebrated burger and brew establishment, Ford’s Garage. Ford Motor Company pulled some strings and was able to set up the Mach-E 1400 for display at the beginning and end of the Rally. There were also several vendors set up to meet the Mustangers in attendance, including Recaro, Brembo, MotorCity Solutions, B&O Audio, and more. To wrap up the show, door prizes were handed out by WCSX’s own “Big Jim,” whose radio station was another sponsor of the Mustang club’s Rally.
