BIRMINGHAM, Mich. – One of the oldest and most prestigious Ford clubs in the Detroit metro area is the SAAC-Motor City Region, who has been hosting annual shows, track days and cruise-ins in the region for more than four decades now. While you’ll find member cars at events large and small, the cool thing about rolling with these guys is how they get ready for the bigger events.
Few automotive events are bigger than the annual Woodward Dream Cruse, where nearly 40,000 collectible cars and some 1 million people flood into the region to experience this world famous one-day summer happening. Of course SAAC-MCR members are there, but what makes them special is that before these guys go cruise, they, well – go cruise to get ready!
For regular Woodward cruisers, the place to meet is easily Pasteiner’s Auto Zone Hobbies right on Woodward in Birmingham, Michigan, whose weekly Saturday morning “Cars & Coffee” cruise-ins have a following of their own. So it should be no surprise that we found SAAC-MCR members doing their warm-up to Woodward at Steve Pasteiner Jr.’s storefront shop full of car magazines, books, models and all sorts of auto memorabilia. There to catch some of the pre-cruise action with his camera was longtime Shelby enthusiast and SAAC-MCR‘s longstanding membership and communications director, Rich Tweedle. Rich was kind enough to walk around Pasteiner’s and snap photos of some of the fine Fords he found there for the gallery below:
