Warriors In Pink Mustang Inspires Pony Car Purchase, Friendships for Shaunee Renchin

Two S197 Mustangs, one black one silver, parked on grass

Ford enthusiasts love attending cool events and checking out some of the fine Fords we’ll find on display at car shows. As you likely do, we often come across a few specialty Mustangs on our travels – but it’s not often that we find two rare models parked right next to each other at the same show. That’s just what happened when we attended the big Stang Invasion VI event in Iowa this past summer. There, we spotted not one, but two Warriors In Pink Mustangs, a black one, as well as a silver one owned by Shaunee Renchin. We didn’t see the other owner there, so we asked Shaunee to share with us the story of her car and how these two hard-to-find Mustangs wound up parked next to each other at that show. Here’s what she told us:

“Hello Ford Performance! My name is Shaunee Renchin. It was great to meet you at the Stang Invasion event in Iowa. I’m the owner of the silver Warriors in Pink Mustang that you had stopped to ask me about – and for the story of how TWO Warriors In Pink Mustangs happened to get together at Invasion VI on that Saturday.
“I purchased my car on July 22, 2020. I had been looking for a silver S197 Mustang for a few weeks and wasn’t having much luck locally. So I broadened my search and came across the car I now own up in Wisconsin. It was silver with grey stripes on the sides. Two mustangs parked on the grass

“When I looked through the pictures of the car, the pink breast cancer ribbons on the corner of the floor mats caught my eye. I was also doing some reading on the S197 and saw that there was a Warriors In Pink special edition that Ford had offered. I immediately looked up ‘Warriors In Pink Mustang’ and came across their website. I saw the picture of the exact same floor mats and started putting it all together. I zoomed in on the seats and saw that the stitching was pink. So I got VIN from the prior owner and -- sure enough -- it came up as an original Warriors In Pink car with an old auction photo showing the car’s original emblems and pink stripes.

“I knew right then that I had to have that car. I took the next day off work and drove the five hours each way to go pick up the Mustang. Once the car was in my possession, the first thing I did was order the Warriors in Pink Emblems (from E-bay). I then made an appointment with a local graphics shop to have stripes re-done. Within a few weeks, the car was back to how looked from the factory.

“Now as to how you got to see two WIP Mustangs together at the Stang Invasion show, my husband and I were walking around the vendor booths and went back to our car to store a bag. There was a couple standing by our car, and they asked if it was ours. When I replied, ‘Yes,’ they said that they also had a WIP Mustang at the show and asked if we could get pictures of the cars together. When we said we’d love to, they drove their car over to park next to ours. Later, we pulled the cars to the edge of the lot and got some more great photos together.

“We were excited that you had noticed our silver WIP Mustang next to that black WIP that is owned by Scott Nugent Jr. (his significant other’s name is Alexis). WIP Mustang fans can find more photos on my Instagram, hope_the_mustang. Thank you for noticing us at the show and featuring us in your Ford Fan Spotlight!”
