If you visit the Ford Performance Club Connect website and click on the map, you can scroll over to Europe to find the Ford Performance Club of Belgium. There you’ll be able to read the words of founder Lucas Segers, who states that his club is for people “who have a passion for the Ford brand.” But he’s quick to point out that for him, “It’s not about being the biggest club, but about being the best club.” Turns out that when it comes to Lucas’ goal of “getting to know other Ford fans” in his part of the word, he not only talks the talk, but truly walks the walk. Young Mr. Seger, who is a university student studying Automotive Management, recently sent us a note entitled, “Sharing the Mustang Mach 1 experience in Belgium!” If you’ve ever wondered if Mustang and Ford clubs and Ford fans like Lucas can really make a difference in people’s lives, then you owe it to yourself to read his note to us below:
“Hi, Ford Performance. It’s Lucas Segers from the Ford Performance Club of Belgium. I wanted to share a photo with you featuring my friend Jarne and Ford’s new Mustang Mach 1. Jarne is a boy with a disability that I supported during my summer job. He is 20 years old, like me, but leads a very different life with fewer opportunities.
“He can't speak, but together we discovered in primitive sign language that we share the same passion for cars. So I surprised him last weekend with the unique opportunity to be my co-pilot at the Waterhoek Classic, an event supported by us, #FordPerformanceClub.
“I gave him an unforgettable day in a cool new Mustang Mach 1 which he enjoyed immensely. His gratitude was huge and I was having a great time as well. I hope you agree that this little story about Jarne is definitely one worth repeating!”
Here’s How YOU Can Get In The Spotlight: For nearly 15 years now, one of the most popular features on FordPerformance.com and in our weekly Fast News e-newsletter continues to be "Ford Fan Spotlight," where readers can send in their own reasons why they're fans of Ford Motor Company and its vehicles. You know who they are: Ford "superfans;" grassroots Ford racers; unique Ford vehicle owners; loyal Ford enthusiasts; notable Ford club people; special Ford families; and/or any avid supporter of Ford, Ford vehicles, Ford motorsports or Ford Performance who deserves a little bit of special recognition.
All you need to do to get you, your car or candidate considered is to send in a brief description (200-500 words or less) and a few photos (in .jpeg format, preferably around 1 mb in size) with the owner’s full name and hometown, please. Just tell us about the vehicle(s) and why you think Ford Performance should feature it (them) in the "Ford Fan Spotlight" for an upcoming installment of Fast News as well as for posting on FordPerformance.com. Then email it to: ClubHub@Ford.com with your contact info. Should you wish to send a video, you simply need to post it on www.YouTube.com (preferably 1-2 minutes long) and send in the link, along with a brief description, to that same ClubHub@Ford.com email address. Your submission allows us the rights to use your words and images (along with any edits) for editorial purposes; we’ll choose one
