For Photographer Hannah Lawrence, Mustang Hobby Is Her 'Happy Place'

Gotta Have it Green S197 Mustang on Mountain Road

We first met Hannah Lawrence last summer at the Halderman Museum after she and fellow members of the Mustang Friends KY_IN club took a road trip to the late Mustang designer’s “man cave” in Tipp City, Ohio, just outside of Dayton. When we saw her camera work and her talent using a drone for photos and videos, we asked the young photographer if she’d contribute some of her pictures from the visit in our story about the museum’s reopening. Her work was so well-received that the Mustang Owners Club of SouthEastern Michigan (MOCSEM) asked if Hannah Lawrence Photography could make a video documenting their own club tour of the museum later in the year, and she again made the drive from Louisville, Kentucky, to do just that. When we spotted her modded 2014 Mustang Club of America Edition V-6 in gleaming Gotta Have It Green in the museum lot at the MOCSEM tour, we knew we had to feature her in our Ford Fan Spotlight (below):

“Hi, Ford Performance! My name is Hannah Lawrence and I’m from Louisville, Kentucky. For over a year I saved up every penny to get my first Ford Mustang. After many weeks of not going out to save up as much as possible, I finally found my car. When seeing it online, I could only think of saying one thing, ‘I gotta have it!’

“Later down the road, I learned that is the actual name for the car’s color! I gave my car a name which only seemed appropriate for such a bright green car -- Kermit! Kermit is a 2014 V-6 automatic ‘Mustang Club of America’ Edition with many modifications I’ve done to it since I first got it. My car has done way more than just taken me from Point A to Point B; it has led me to some of the most amazing people I’ve ever met -- friends I will have for a lifetime.

“Kermit and I are a part of a wonderful Mustang group (Mustang Friends KY_IN) where I can show off my beauty with others that share the same automotive interest. I have put a lot of work into making it look the way I want, but like every Mustang owner, it is never enough! My ‘Gotta Have It Green’ Mustang led me to one of the funniest, most-caring people I have met, Don Howard. With him having the same color car, we were able to talk endlessly about our pride and joys.

“Kermit and I have also traveled to the Gale Halderman Museum where my passion for videography was born. The Mustang is a work of art, and every detail of these cars has meaning. I try to show that off through a video and tell a story between an owner and their car. I hope to make it my career one day, but for now it is a fun hobby.

“I also went to the Tail of the Dragon in Tennessee where I was really able to test the ability of my car. I did very well for my first time, and I can’t wait to go back. Nothing feels better than getting in my car, starting the engine and cruising down a highway to escape reality. My car is my ‘happy place’ and I am so thankful to be a part of such an amazing hobby where cars can mean more to people than just getting us from Point A to Point B.”

How YOU can Get In The Spotlight: For the past decade, one of the most popular features on FordPerformance.com and in our weekly Fast News e-newsletter continues to be "Ford Fan Spotlight," where readers can send in their own reasons why they're fans of Ford Motor Company and its vehicles.
