Roger Penske has claimed his share of milestone victories over the years and you can add another one to that long list after Ryan Blaney won Sunday’s Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway for the organization’s 100th NASCAR Cup Series victory with Ford.
The win was even more meaningful considering it was an elimination race and enabled Blaney to advance to the Championship 4 for a chance at his second straight title.
That dramatic victory is just one in a long line of milestone moments with Ford that includes a pair of Daytona 500 victories, one Brickyard 400 win, and inaugural triumphs on the Charlotte Roval, Bristol Dirt Race and Clash at the Coliseum.
Team Penske first started racing in NASCAR with Ford in 1994 with Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace leading the way behind the wheel. Wallace won the organization’s first race with Ford in just its second start when he took the checkered flat at North Carolina Motor Speedway in Rockingham on Feb. 27. That sparked a campaign that saw Wallace win eight times, including three in a row, and finish third in the end of year point standings.
Wallace went on to win 23 races with Ford, including his 50th career victory which came at Bristol Motor Speedway in 2000.
The organization competed with Ford until 2002, winning 27 races during that nine-year stretch and returned in 2013 with the duo of Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano. Since then, Logano has become the group’s all-time winner with 33 Ford victories, including triumphs in the Daytona 500 and series championship race in 2018.
Overall, seven Team Penske drivers have registered at least one Cup Series win with Ford.
This marks the second time in 2024 that Ford has celebrated 100 wins with an organization. The Wood Brothers recorded their milestone win in August when Harrison Burton won at Daytona International Speedway.
