PHILLIP ISLAND, Victoria – The Ford Mustang GT4 helped celebrate the 100th anniversary of Ford in Australia with a solid start to the GT4 Australia Series at Phillip Island.
Wearing #100 on their Mustang to signal the celebration, George Miedecke and Rylan Gray were the crew to beat in a pair of one-hour, two-driver battles at the classic seaside circuit.
They ran at the front across both days and came home with a pair of outright podium places, while Jason Gomersall and Aaron Seton took a class win, and Dean Campbell with Cameron Crick ensured three Mustangs finished in the Top 10 in both races.
Phillip Island marked the biggest Ford presence yet in the booming GT4 championship, with four Ford Mustangs in a field of 31 cars.
Saturday’s action was witnessed by three members of the Ford family, led by Bill Ford - the executive chair of the Ford Motor Company - and Will Ford, general manager of Ford Performance.
“It was a good weekend for the Ford Mustangs and a busy one too,” said Andrew Miedecke, head of the Miedecke Motorsport team.
“Having members of the Ford family at Phillip Island was very special and Bill Ford is so supportive of our efforts and also a genuinely good bloke.”
The only bad news for the weekend was a qualifying crash by Jed Wallis, which took his Mustang out for the weekend, although Campbell and Crick had to battle back on Sunday after being tagged in a first-corner crash.
The 2025 Australian GT4 Championship continues at Sydney Motorsport Park on May 2-4.

Driver Quotes
George Miedecke
- “It was great to get off to solid start with pole position for Race 2 and a pair of third places. It was our third time at Phillip Island with the Mustang and we feel like we’re maximising the car.”
Rylan Gray
- “It was a super-positive weekend and good to be on the podium for both races. No-one in the crew put a foot wrong all weekend and we did the best we could with the Mustang.”
Jason Gomersall
- “It was a fantastic weekend for us, winning the class for Pro/AM drivers on Saturday and taking a solid second on Sunday. We leave the Island leading the Pro/AM category so we’re looking forward to going to Sydney Motorsport Park next.”
Aaron Seton
- “It’s great to be back in the Mustang this year and we make a great team. It was a solid weekend for us and hopefully we can carry the momentum into the next round in Sydney.”
Cameron Crick
- “We only got the Mustang three weeks ago so we’ve been learning on the run. It’s a big step up for Dean so it was good to finish second in Pro/AM on Saturday.”
Dean Campbell
- “We had a good first race in our first hit-out in the car. Seventh outright and second in class was great. I got taken out in the first corner on Sunday but we did well to recover to tenth outright.”
Adam Wallis
- “It was an unfortunate mistake by my brother Jed, who crashed when he was coming onto the pit straight. He has been pretty hard on himself, and my son Jack was pretty disappointed not to get any racing. It can only get better from here.”
