When it comes to memorable racing finishes, Triple Eight Race Engineering has more than most, with a record 11 championships and more than 250 wins across their incredible Australian Supercars history.

Three of those milestones have special meaning to Triple Eight Team Principal Jamie Whincup: his first Supercars victory, first win at Bathurst, and first Supercars championship. And all three have one detail in common: they all happened behind the wheel of a Ford vehicle.

Now, Triple Eight is looking to a new partnership with Ford to continue the success of those formative years. For Whincup, it’s now from his seat as team principal of Triple Eight Race Engineering, who is planned to become Ford’s official homologation team for the 2026 Australian Supercars season.

"This team is incredible – none of our achievements would have been possible without the passionate people in this organisation," said Whincup, who retired from full-time racing in 2021.

"The Blue Oval is more than a logo, and this isn't just about winning. We recognized the same passion at Ford that we have here at Triple Eight.

“Everyone in this team has a fire in their bellies to continue our success, and to bring an exciting show for our fans."

With a background of previous success, Ford Performance’s goals and Triple Eight’s standing in the sport – Whincup and Mark Rushbrook, global director of Ford Performance, brokered a deal after just a couple of weeks of discussions.

“When a team of Triple Eight’s caliber picks up the phone, you definitely listen to what they have to say,” Rushbrook said. “Working with the Triple Eight team of engineering experts will help us bring excitement to Mustang and Supercars fans all over Australia.”

Ford and Triple Eight first teamed up from 2003 through 2009. That era included a three-peat of Bathurst 1000 victories for Craig Lowndes and Whincup and back-to-back Drivers' championships for Whincup.

Triple Eight joins Ford’s other decades-long on-track partnerships, none more significant than with the legendary Dick Johnson Racing, whose association with Ford stretches nearly 50 years. Tickford Racing, who through various incarnations, have raced Fords for more than two decades. Newer relationships with Grove Racing and Blanchard Racing were formed in 2020 and 2021.
