COSTA DAURADA, Spain - M-Sport discusses adjustments with the Ecoboost-powered Ford Fiesta as they battle on the mixed-surface terrain of RallyRACC Catalyuna – Rally de España.
Ott Tänak (2nd) said:
“After the first stage [SS7] we were not so happy with the feeling in the car and it was quite difficult to drive. We made quite a few changes before the next one and managed to improve the balance quite a lot. It felt much better after that and we were able to have a good run.
“Towards the end of the last stage we heard a strange noise so we’ll change the gearbox in service just to be sure. That means we won’t have the right diff set-up for this afternoon so it will be a bit more difficult, but hopefully we can keep up the pace.”
Sébastien Ogier (3rd) said:
“It’s not been a bad morning for us, but for sure not the loop we wanted and I thought the times would be a bit better. The balance wasn’t perfect, but honestly I think a lot of drivers were struggling with that. We’ll see if there is anything we can do in service and try a bit more this afternoon.”
Elfyn Evans (11th) said:
“It’s fair to say that this just isn’t going to be our weekend and we’ve struggled again this morning. But we’re still here and we just need to make it through all of the stages and gain as much information as we can for the future.”
