Calling all Mustang Club Members, Ford Enthusiasts and Mustang Bullitt Owners and Fans:
Come join the fun during the 2018 HoonDog ‘Legend Lives Route 66 Tour’! Ford Motor Company, Team Mustang, Ford Performance and the HoonDog Performance Group (HPG) would like to invite you and your Ford to join in on the “2018 HoonDog Legend Lives Route 66 Tour” along Historic Route 66. Ford and HPG have teamed up for this event in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Mustang Bullitt. What better way to celebrate this legendary Mustang than by joining a Bullitt stampede along with all other Mustangs and collectible Fords while driving the entire length of Route 66 from Chicago to LA?
In addition to the more than 60 HoonDog participants already signed to take on this cross-country drive, Ford will be supplying two brand-new 2019 Mustang Bullitt prototypes to be included in the road tour. These 2019 Bullitt Mustang pre-production units will be displayed at all of the tour’s stops for attendees to check out among all the other Blue Oval rides.
The HoonDog Legend Lives Route 66 Tour will take place between May 25th and June 3rd 2018. The tour will feature seven interesting stops along Route 66 as well as a whole host of historic landmarks along the way. HPG will host car Show ‘n’ Shines during their Meet-&-Greet cookouts in Yukon, OK, and Tucumcari, NM, as well as mini car shows at Ford Dealers in St. Robert, MO, Winslow, AZ, and Laughlin, NV. This unforgettable journey along Route 66 through eight states is your chance to take an once-in-a-lifetime road trip back in history on “America’s Mother Road.”
The event starts in Chicago, Illinois and ends at the Santa Monica Pier in California. The tour event culminates in Chino Hills, CA, for The Friends of Steve McQueen Reception Dinner on Friday June 1st and the Car Show on June 2nd at Boys Republic, Steve McQueen’s childhood boarding school.
We would like to extend an invitation to any and all Ford owners and fans to join the tour, or join in during any part of the Bullitt caravan, or simply stop in at any one of the seven stops along the journey. Registration for the event is $50 and includes a t-shirt, dash plaque, registration pack with a Route 66 Tour Guide and a goody bag. Looking for a sweet getaway weekend before that? The Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) Museum in Hershey, Pennsylvania, is planning a special Opening Program on Friday, May 18, to kick off two new exhibits at the Museum that will run until fall of 2018. The first is “Mustangs: Six Generations of America’s Favorite Pony Car.” This exhibit caters to the serious Mustang hobbyist as well as the general public, including telling the story of how the Mustang concept was developed along with some unusual models. Original Mustang stylist Gale Halderman is scheduled as a special guest, as is former Mustang chief engineer Art Hyde. One of the unique vehicles featured in the exhibit is the 1963 Mustang III Concept Show Car (otherwise known as the “Shorty Mustang.”) The other exhibit is a tribute to the International Thunderbird Club with a special T-Bird display in the Museum’s new Williams-Clyne Gallery. Check out the museum website, www.AACAMuseum.org, for details.

No matter what you decide you’d like to do with your free time, the great thing about owning a performance Ford is that – unlike with buying one of those “appliances” from the other automakers – when you buy a Ford, you buy into an entire enthusiast world! That’s because Ford cars and trucks have the kind of personality and style that forges a personal connection with their owners, who in turn celebrate ownership each year at hundreds of enthusiast events all over the country.
Are you a Mustang owner or fan who thinks your club or group is too old-fashioned and doesn’t understand what you love most about Mustang ownership? Then you owe it to yourself to check out the “Millennial Mustang Registry!” The Millennial Mustang Registry is an online group “for Millennials (born between the mid-1980's and the early 2000's) who have a love for Mustangs.” According to founder Bradley Belcher, “The car show scene is mostly dominated by older generations, and because of this, people think we Millennials don't love our Mustangs. The purpose of this club is to show how much we Millennials truly do love our Mustangs as well as try and get more people involved in the car world. If you have a Mustang that you love, please JOIN US today!” So who is Bradley Belcher? He’s a Mustang owner you’d be happy to know: Check out his story HERE. So sign up on the website, check it out on Facebook, or send an email to email@example.com. They’re on our radar, and should be on yours!
