WE CAPTURE FORD-POWERED THRILLS AT SVRA VINTAGE RACING INVITATIONAL

Brickyard (2)

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Ford marketing retiree Bill Cook first visited the SVRA (Sportscar Vintage Racing Association) Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational back in 2015, and promised himself he’d have to return. He made it back for the 4th Annual invitational held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway over the June 16-18, 2017, weekend, and decided he’d need a return trip in 2018.

As bill puts it, “I spent four nights and three days in Indy for the 2018 Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational. It was hot . . . in the 90s, high humidity . . . but it was still so cool! There were 13 SVRA Race Groups, plus Feature Races, Trans Am (TA, TA2, TA3, TA4), the Indy Legends Pro Am Race, a Prewar Exhibition run, plus a Hagerty Car Show, and lots of Vintage Motorcycles. I took 52,000+ steps, drank gallons of water, slathered on many ounces of sunblock, and snapped some 700 pictures.”

We picked out favorites to share with you in the gallery below. With more than 500 ultra-rare and ultra-fast vintage race cars participating, many driven by legendary drivers, you can see why this SVRA event is a must-see for any race enthusiast.
